Remote job
Design Engineer, Web/Brand
Job details
About this role
Role overview A design engineer role focused on building a developer-facing marketing website that feels like a product rather than promotional content. The position centers on engineering a new brand identity into a living, performant system spanning components, motion, and tooling, and partnering closely with brand designers, marketers, and the broader design engineering team.
Responsibilities - Lead the craft and technical direction of the company's primary marketing website, pushing the boundaries of motion, interaction, and performance for developer audiences. - Translate a new brand identity into reusable components, motion patterns, and internal tooling that enable the wider team to ship on-brand work quickly. - Build launch pages, product pages, and campaign surfaces that hold a very high creative bar without becoming a bottleneck for the team. - Treat performance as a product feature, defining and defending real budgets so rich experiences remain fast and responsive. - Partner daily with brand designers, marketers, and fellow engineers to turn ambitious creative ideas into shipped web experiences.
Requirements - An exceptional front-end engineer with a strong portfolio of production web work demonstrating craft and impact. - Deep, demonstrable obsession with motion, interaction detail, and front-end performance rather than treating them as afterthoughts. - Fluency in turning brand and design intent into reusable systems and components that other people can build on. - A fast, self-directed operator who can ship polished work without waiting for fully-baked specifications. - Strong collaborator who elevates design partners' ideas rather than flattening them into the path of least resistance. - Comfortable writing code that is fast, reliable, and practical, learning new languages and tools quickly, and explaining complex technical ideas clearly.
Nice to have - Background at a developer-tools, API, or infrastructure company, with an understanding of why engineers distrust marketing. - WebGL, shader, or creative-coding experience for moments that need something novel. - Contributions to design systems: tokens, primitives, and documentation that others actively used. - Hard-won experience making a rich site pass Core Web Vitals, with strong opinions on how to do it.
Benefits and work setup - Opportunity to contribute to open source alongside world-class engineers on work with broad impact. - Competitive salary and equity package, plus health, dental, and vision benefits. - Flexible vacation policy.
