Job details
About this role
Role overview
Build and improve developer tools as part of a small, remote engineering team. The work spans web product experiences, open-source tools, backend services, databases, third-party integrations, and AI agents; engineers take features from technical design through implementation, testing, and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Develop web experiences, including routing, navigation, onboarding, and performance improvements. - Build and maintain command-line tools, build-tool plugins, APIs, and PostgreSQL-backed features. - Design secure integrations and authentication or authorization flows. - Own features end to end: propose a design, review it with the team, then implement and document it. - Balance roadmap work with customer requests, fixes, and product improvements; share work in weekly demos.
Requirements
- At least five years of production experience with TypeScript and Node.js. - Strong React skills, including loading and Suspense patterns, and experience with server-side, client-side, and static rendering. - Deep familiarity with React routing, user journeys, navigation, onboarding, and design systems or component libraries. - Backend experience with Node.js and PostgreSQL, including production API design and access control. - Computer science fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, and system design, gained through a degree or equivalent experience. - Experience working remotely with distributed teams; able to overlap daily with 7–10 a.m. San Francisco time and communicate fluently in English. - A real app, tool, or open-source project that other people have relied on; daily use of AI coding tools and workflows.
Nice to have
- Cloudflare Workers, PostgreSQL or Supabase row-level security, background jobs, AI agents, observability, or open-source contributions. - Experience building shared React component libraries, familiarity with Remix or TanStack routing tools, or knowledge of multiple languages.
Benefits and work setup
- Flexible hours on a fully remote team, with occasional in-person team travel. - Competitive salary, health insurance, and a conference and learning budget. - Direct collaboration with users and founders, plus work connected to the open-source community.
