Software Engineer in Test (Remote, Greece or Cyprus)

A remote-first EdTech SaaS platform that helps educators and organizations turn expertise into scalable learning experiences is hiring a Software Engineer in Test to own automation outcomes for assigned product areas. The role blends hands-on test engineering with daily direction of AI agents, choosing the cheapest test layer that still catches the bug, and shaping the standards the rest of the team follows. It suits engineers who care about clean architecture, real product confidence, and shipping quality at speed.

Responsibilities

- Join product planning early, while scope, risk, data, and environments are still cheap to change - Pick the right test layer per risk: API where it is enough, end-to-end where only a browser will do, smoke for release signal - Build and evolve the framework with page objects, typed API clients, fixtures, and code other engineers can read and extend - Direct AI agents to plan, generate, debug, and maintain automation, then review and reject flaky or unasserted output - Build reusable agent skills, subagent definitions, and machine-readable conventions that make generated tests correct by default - File bugs with rich evidence (screenshots, traces, stack traces) and separate product defects from automation or environment issues

Requirements

- Three or more years of professional QA or software testing experience with automation ownership - Strong proficiency in TypeScript and modern JavaScript or TypeScript practices - Hands-on experience with Playwright (or a comparable modern web automation framework) and the Page Object Model pattern - Git plus CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions - Comfort working across API, UI, cross-browser, and responsive layers, with the judgment to assign risk to the right layer - Analytical thinking for test scenarios, acceptance criteria, and strategy plans, plus strong debugging and performance optimization skills - Clear communication on coverage, gaps, and remaining risk, and solid prioritization and estimation habits - Demonstrated agentic AI skills, including prompt design, steering, reviewing, and shipping without lowering the quality bar

Nice to have

- Background in EdTech, LMS, payments, ecommerce, analytics, mobile, or other complex SaaS products - Test management tools such as TestRail or Zephyr - Familiarity with cloud technologies like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud - Backend or API automation experience beyond UI flows - Public GitHub repos, open-source contributions, or personal projects worth showcasing
