Senior Operations Data Analyst
Job details
About this role
Role overview
A senior individual-contributor role within an Operations Data function, reporting to the Head of Operations Data and partnering closely with functional stakeholders across the business. The position owns production data systems end-to-end — from data modeling and ETL to application support and stakeholder relationships — while mentoring junior analysts. A meaningful slice of the work supports a specific operational site, with light travel expected to observe fieldwork in person.
Responsibilities
- Design and build new data models, ETL/API integrations, and internal application features (approximately 45% of initial allocation). - Maintain platform reliability, including stewardship of core operational databases, sync monitoring, alerting, and production support (about 25%). - Lead governance and technical-debt work such as role-based access control, scoped roles, semantic-layer definitions in dbt, and documentation (about 15%). - Support a specific site program by maintaining commitments registers, mentoring peers, and coordinating with functions such as Procurement and Inventory (about 15%). - Collaborate with non-technical domain experts to translate business problems into data solutions and communicate trade-offs clearly.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or data operations owning production systems independently. - Strong SQL skills and hands-on data modeling experience with PostgreSQL. - Demonstrated experience with ETL pipelines and API integrations. - Comfort working with modern AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini to accelerate analysis and building. - Excellent communication skills and the ability to partner with domain experts who are not technical. - Intellectual curiosity about mineral exploration and a willingness to learn geology concepts and occasionally work alongside geologists in the field. - Valid passport and ability to travel lightly as needed; legally authorized to work in the United States or Canada.
Nice to have
- Experience with dbt, AWS/S3 cloud tooling, finance systems such as NetSuite or Tipalti, or geospatial data. - Prior experience at a fast-growing early-stage company comfortable with evolving responsibilities.
Benefits and work setup
- Remote-first work environment with US base salary range of $100,000–$125,000 plus equity. - Benefits include 401(k) matching and standard offerings for a full-time exempt role.
