About this role
Role overview This is a senior product design role on a small, close-knit Product Design team within a managed web hosting platform that serves tens of thousands of businesses. The designer will lead and execute product initiatives from concept through UI, partnering closely with Research, Product Management, and Development. The primary canvas is the customer-facing dashboard, with scope extending to internal workflows and the full user experience. It is a senior IC role with potential to grow into leading the design team as it scales.
Responsibilities - Own design projects end to end, from concept and scoping through user flows, UI, release, and follow-up, at any scale - Drive discovery to identify real problems and user needs, studying competitors and best practices - Partner with Research, Product Management, and Development to validate requirements and technical feasibility - Write clear design specifications and run design QA against intent and the in-house design system - Provide rationale for design decisions, resolve design deadlocks, and communicate trade-offs - Serve as Project Owner on occasion, coordinating releases in lieu of dedicated delivery managers - Uphold craft standards and help maintain and evolve the design system
Requirements - At least five years of hands-on experience as a Product or UX Designer - Demonstrated experience shipping products and features from zero to production, carrying projects autonomously - Experience working in a SaaS environment on a highly technical product with cross-functional teams - Hands-on experience across the full design workflow including research, problem definition, ideation, UI, and delivery - Expert-level proficiency with Figma - Experience working with and maintaining a design system - Portfolio with at least one case study covering a project from problem statement to delivered solution, including process and rationale - Working understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with comfort using browser inspector tools - Proactive, self-motivated approach with strong written and verbal English communication
Nice to have - Experience designing for hosting or web infrastructure products - Experience with technical products aimed at developers or technology-oriented users - Familiarity with the WordPress ecosystem - Experience mentoring or leading other designers
