Role overview A clean-energy technology organization is seeking a Staff Site Reliability Engineer to serve as a hands-on technical leader for its cloud platform. The role owns the architecture, reliability, and security of a Google Cloud-based infrastructure that powers a continuous deployment pipeline for grid and energy analytics products. It also includes mentoring engineers and shaping the broader DevOps direction.
Responsibilities - Design, build, and maintain cloud-native infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform following established best practices. - Lead the Infrastructure as Code strategy by writing and reviewing production-grade Terraform for all cloud resources. - Operate and scale Google Kubernetes Engine clusters, including ingress, configuration, and monitoring components. - Champion security and compliance across IAM, GKE policies, and network layers, including leading incident response. - Manage provisioning, scaling, and reliability of Postgres databases and other data stores. - Build and refine observability tooling such as OpenTelemetry, Grafana, and Google Cloud operations tooling, and mentor engineers on scalable architecture.
Requirements - 8+ years in an SRE, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering role, with prior Staff-level or equivalent technical leadership experience. - Extensive hands-on experience designing and operating production Google Cloud Platform environments. - Advanced Kubernetes expertise, ideally including GKE, Helm, and cluster administration. - Production-level Terraform experience managing complex cloud environments. - Strong automation and scripting skills in languages such as Bash, Python, or Go. - Experience managing and scaling relational databases like Postgres, plus practical security implementation and auditing skills.
Benefits and work setup - Fully remote role within the United States. - Base salary range of $136,000 to $180,000 plus equity in the form of stock options. - Visa sponsorship is not available; candidates must have current U.S. work authorization.
