AI Lead

Role overview

Lead the strategy and delivery of production AI capabilities across voice, chat, and document workflows for legal services. The role combines team leadership and roadmap ownership with hands-on engineering, with roughly 40% of the work focused on building and improving core systems. You will partner with product and engineering leaders to make AI features useful, reliable, and scalable.

Responsibilities

- Set and deliver the AI roadmap across multiple product workflows, from website inquiries and phone assistance to case-file and document analysis. - Lead, mentor, and grow an AI team while setting technical direction and development practices. - Design, implement, and optimize production systems using generative AI, retrieval-augmented generation, and agentic workflows. - Build evaluation, testing, monitoring, and observability practices to assess and improve AI system quality. - Work with product, design, and engineering colleagues to turn AI capabilities into practical user features. - Explain AI priorities and progress to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

- 5–6 years building and shipping applied AI systems in production. - Hands-on experience delivering agentic AI or retrieval-augmented generation systems beyond basic API integrations. - Strong Python and backend development skills. - Experience leading or mentoring AI engineers and setting technical standards. - A track record of owning AI product features end to end, with a product-focused approach. - Familiarity with LLM evaluation, monitoring, and observability tools or methods. - Ability to balance implementation with technical leadership in a fast-moving environment. - Location within two hours of Central European Time, in either direction.
