Role overview
A senior Technical Program Manager is needed to drive hardware development programs for next-generation wearable devices, including smart glasses. The role centers on aligning cross-functional engineering, supply chain, and external partners around clear schedules, qualification milestones, and launch readiness for consumer products. This is a contract engagement running roughly twelve months with potential to extend.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate engineering design deliverables such as specifications, design of experiments, and validation plans across hardware teams - Manage hardware component delivery timelines for development builds and lead qualification activities toward mass production - Build and maintain detailed program schedules that reflect system requirements, technical risks, and shifting business priorities - Shape program structure and workflows so engineering, supply chain, and leadership stay aligned on milestones and decisions - Communicate program status, risks, and mitigation plans, including vendor tooling timelines and design sprint progress, to diverse stakeholders - Partner with internal cross-functional teams and external suppliers to keep milestones on track, and maintain accurate documentation for stakeholder visibility
Requirements
- Five or more years of experience in hardware engineering or technical program management within consumer electronics - Demonstrated success managing complex hardware development programs and delivering against committed timelines - Strong track record coordinating cross-functional teams spanning engineering, supply chain, and external partners - Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to varied audiences - Solid understanding of the product development lifecycle along with hardware design and fabrication processes - Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience working with global suppliers and vendor management - Background at large consumer technology organizations - Prior transition from an individual engineering role into program management - Experience supporting wearable hardware or similar compact product categories
