Software Engineer with C++ Developer for Infrastructure and Network Development Team (full remote / hybrid)

Role overview

This is a C++ engineering role focused on building and maintaining a large-scale backup platform that handles multi-petabyte daily workloads across millions of hosts. The position sits on an infrastructure and network software development team responsible for internal tooling, datacenter and network orchestrators, and a Linux-based backup system built on a substantial codebase. The work is offered on a hybrid or fully remote basis within Romania.

Responsibilities

- Collaborate with product owners and architects to shape technical solutions aligned with the product roadmap - Develop new products and extend existing components within the backup platform - Participate across the full lifecycle of development, maintenance, and operational upkeep - Build features that interact closely with the Linux operating system and its file system - Contribute to internal tooling and management interfaces that support the broader platform ecosystem

Requirements

- Excellent proficiency in modern C++ (C++17 and newer) - Strong network programming skills in C++, including TCP and UDP - Solid experience with multithreading, the C++ STL, and CMake 3.3+ for build management - Very good knowledge of Linux on Debian, including file system hierarchy, permissions, process management, signals, forking, and IPC - Experience building REST APIs, writing unit tests with Google Test, and using Python for integration testing - Comfort with Docker and docker-compose for local development environments

Nice to have

- Familiarity with general and block-based backup theory - Experience with Boost libraries, Protobuf serialization, and OpenSSL 3.0 - Bash scripting for deployment and automation tasks
