This contractor opportunity invites experienced software engineers to conduct technical interviews on behalf of a hiring-focused organization. Interview Engineers facilitate structured, objective coding sessions with developer candidates, helping companies make more reliable, less biased hiring decisions. The work is freelance, compensated per completed task, and performed remotely.

Responsibilities

- Conduct live technical interviews through a dedicated video platform, assessing candidates' coding fundamentals, problem-solving approach, and communication - Evaluate each candidate's coding style, technical depth, and responses to knowledge questions against objective criteria - Submit structured candidate evaluations that highlight strengths, gaps, and an overall recommendation - Partner with the organization to pilot and refine interview content, rubrics, and product features - Maintain a consistent, welcoming, and inclusive experience across every interview session

Requirements

- Three or more years of professional software development or engineering experience - Strong written and spoken English communication, with polished interpersonal skills - Reliable high-speed internet connection plus a working webcam and microphone - Professionalism and reliability when representing the interview process to candidates - Prior experience conducting technical interviews (for example, on data structures and algorithms) is preferred but not required

Nice to have

- Background mentoring engineers or teaching coding concepts - Familiarity with structured interviewing practices and rubric design - Comfort working across multiple programming languages and online coding environments
