About this role
Role overview A senior individual-contributor animation position on a AAA console game development team. The animator owns gameplay animation at the highest quality level set by leads and animation directors, working independently with minimal supervision. The role blends motion capture with hand-key work and covers hero traversal, combat, boss encounters, gameplay camera cinematography, mission scenes, and open-world animation.
Responsibilities - Produce high-quality character animations aligned with artistic direction and technical standards. - Implement animations in-engine using Maya and proprietary engine tools, partnering with designers and programmers. - Troubleshoot animation, rigging, and integration issues independently. - Combine motion capture data with hand-keyed animation to create believable character performance. - Help maintain cohesive animation execution and offer constructive feedback to the animation team. - Communicate effectively with design, programming, writing, project management, art, audio, character, and rigging teams.
Requirements - Advanced Maya skills and familiarity with proprietary engine tools, plus Microsoft Office proficiency. - Working knowledge of state machine flow in a game engine; MotionBuilder and Adobe Premiere are a plus. - Proven ability to deliver high-quality gameplay animation with minimal supervision. - Strong cross-discipline collaboration skills on a game development team. - Basic algebra and geometry ability for proportions, percentages, and similar calculations. - Commitment to supporting an inclusive and diverse studio.
Nice to have Prior experience on shipped AAA titles spanning traversal, combat, boss, or gameplay camera work.
Benefits and work setup Hourly base pay range of $76.92 to $86 USD, with eligibility for medical, dental, and vision benefits.
