Role overview Join a team that contributes to one of the leading open-source graphics stacks, working on drivers and user-space graphics software that runs on everything from desktop GPUs to mobile devices. The role spans Mesa driver development, display technologies, toolkits, desktop shells and compositors, and 3D graphics APIs. It is a remote position within a distributed, open-source-first engineering culture.
Responsibilities - Develop and maintain open-source user-space graphics drivers, including work on the Mesa3D project. - Contribute across layers of the graphics stack such as display servers, toolkits, and desktop compositors. - Work on 3D graphics APIs including OpenGL and Vulkan. - Collaborate with other internal teams who rely on the graphics stack for their own projects. - Participate in open-source workflows including public communication, patch review, and upstream contribution.
Requirements - Solid grasp of the layers of the open-source graphics stack and how they interact. - Comfort working in an open-source environment, including communicating and reviewing work publicly. - Strong understanding of version control systems such as git. - Ability to collaborate effectively in English across a distributed team.
Nice to have - Experience with GPU drivers and the Linux kernel DRM subsystem. - Familiarity with X11 and Wayland display technologies. - Background with toolkits such as GTK+ or Qt, or with desktop shells and compositors like GNOME Shell. - Reverse engineering or embedded hardware experience. - Prior contributions to open-source graphics projects.
