About this role
Role overview Work on a Chromium-focused browsers team that ships open-source web rendering code into mobile devices, televisions, and other consumer hardware. The role covers implementing new web-facing features, porting the browser to new platforms, and pushing changes upstream into the shared open-source project. The position is fully remote within a distributed, open-source-style development culture.
Responsibilities - Implement new web platform features inside a large C++ browser codebase. - Port the browser to new target platforms as needed. - Maintain existing code paths across different parts of the codebase, adapting to whichever area needs attention. - Contribute work upstream to the open-source project, including patch review and public discussion. - Collaborate with engineers who ship the browser onto mobile, TV, and embedded devices.
Requirements - Ability to write efficient, maintainable, and portable C++ system code as day-to-day work. - Comfort navigating a large C++ project and moving between different parts of the codebase. - Organization and flexibility to handle shifting priorities across many subsystems. - Clear written communication for code review and public open-source collaboration.
Nice to have - Prior contributions to a web browser, engine, or similar large C++ system. - Experience with embedded or constrained-device platforms.
