Senior Storage Engineer

Role overview

Design, deploy, and operate large-scale storage and clustered server environments. This senior engineering role spans architecture, performance, upgrades, security, and production support, with independent ownership of complex technical work and input into departmental direction.

Responsibilities

- Architect and engineer clustered UNIX servers and integrate storage with server networks using Ethernet, TCP/IP, and Fibre Channel technologies. - Establish and apply performance standards for storage platforms and clustered systems. - Plan, test, and coordinate storage and cluster software or hardware upgrades, including release procedures. - Develop and maintain policies and procedures for storage management and clustering. - Provide advanced technical support to operations teams and troubleshoot storage or high-availability issues. - Assess project and business needs, recommend suitable hardware or software, and coordinate implementation with other departments. - Evaluate vendor implementations for alignment with organizational security standards.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. - At least five years of technical experience. - Working knowledge of enterprise storage systems, including products from Pure Storage, Dell, or NetApp. - Ability to analyze complex technical situations and make decisions about project approaches independently. - Strong collaboration skills for coordinating testing, deployment, and upgrades across teams. - Commitment to improving the experiences of the people served by the organization.

This is a remote position with occasional travel for training or meetings. A dedicated, interruption-free workspace is required to protect sensitive information. Home internet must provide at least 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload.
