Role overview
A creative practice is hiring a Visual Design Lead to set and steward the visual direction across complex digital products and multi-platform experiences. The role blends hands-on design leadership with people management, guiding projects from early concept to launch and shaping long-term design standards across web, mobile, and responsive surfaces.
Responsibilities
- Define and lead the visual design direction for digital products, platforms, and end-to-end experiences. - Mentor and provide creative direction to visual designers, reviewing work and raising the bar for craft and consistency. - Build, evolve, and maintain scalable design systems and reusable UI components that support multiple product teams. - Translate product and platform goals into cohesive visual solutions that balance user needs, business outcomes, and technical constraints. - Partner closely with Product, UX, Engineering, and Creative teammates to align design decisions with broader strategy. - Champion accessibility, usability, and quality across every touchpoint, while articulating trade-offs and rationale to stakeholders.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience designing digital products across web, mobile, and responsive platforms. - Proven track record leading and mentoring visual designers and establishing design standards. - Deep expertise building and maintaining scalable design systems and reusable UI components. - Experience collaborating with Product, UX, and Engineering on complex product ecosystems. - Strong systems thinking paired with sharp attention to UI detail. - Solid grounding in interaction design, accessibility, usability, and user-centered design principles. - Comfortable communicating design decisions, managing stakeholders, and operating in Agile, fast-paced, remote environments.
