Product Designer (RD221)

Role overview A federal contractor is hiring a Product Designer for its enterprise product that securely deploys and manages mission applications at scale across multiple cloud providers and on-premise environments. The initial focus is enabling mission users to discover approved tools and request access through a clear self-service workspace, with the scope expanding to cover broader deployment and administration workflows. The role suits a designer who can make complex software delivery feel approachable for users without deep Kubernetes or SaaS administration expertise while preserving the controls enterprises require.

Responsibilities - Conceptualize, prototype, test, and refine user-centered solutions in collaboration with cross-functional product, engineering, and customer-facing teams. - Conduct UX research and testing to gather feedback, identify pain points, and iterate on design solutions. - Define early product concepts, flesh out workflows and micro-interactions, and execute effective visual design. - Build and maintain user personas that cultivate empathy for end users across product teams and stakeholders. - Document UI solutions and contribute to a shared component library while integrating seamlessly with other platform tools. - Develop working understanding of disconnected operations, classification boundaries, and DoD operational constraints as they apply to design choices.

Requirements - Three to five years of product design experience with at least one to two years on enterprise software or complex B2B SaaS. - Portfolio demonstrating complex enterprise workflows, multi-tenant or multi-role experiences, and simplified self-service patterns. - Proficiency in Figma, including component libraries, auto-layout, variables, prototyping, responsive design, and developer handoff. - Understanding of accessibility fundamentals and Section 508 compliance. - Experience facilitating design critiques, remote user testing, and collaborative design sessions. - U.S. citizenship required.

Nice to have - Experience designing SaaS management, service catalogs, internal developer portals, marketplaces, or enterprise administration tools such as Okta, Keycloak, ServiceNow, Backstage, or similar. - Familiarity with Kubernetes, DevSecOps, developer platforms, infrastructure management, or cloud administration. - Experience designing identity, SSO, RBAC, organization management, tenant management, entitlement, or access-control workflows. - Background designing products for government, defense, or national security. - Comfort using AI tools to accelerate UX processes while preserving judgment and originality.
