Engineering Manager - Machine Learning

Role overview Lead two established applied machine learning squads working on computer vision and deep learning for American football and ice hockey. The teams build systems that generate game data, detect events, and track players, supporting real-time coaching insights as well as post-game analysis. Workloads can reach thousands of games processed in parallel during peak periods.

Responsibilities - Manage engineers and data scientists across two squads, supporting growth and delivery against quarterly commitments. - Resolve technical unknowns and work with stakeholders to prioritize high-impact work. - Set standards for engineering and modeling quality while balancing model accuracy, delivery speed, and cloud costs. - Guide teams in keeping models reliable across varied camera footage and real-world conditions. - Align roadmaps and dependencies with product partners and other leaders. - Build a supportive, high-performing environment where teams can take ownership and develop.

Requirements - Experience managing individual contributors, including engineers and data scientists. - Experience building and deploying production machine learning systems and computer vision models at scale. - Ability to guide both model development and scalable software engineering, with attention to efficiency, speed, and cost. - Strong communication skills for explaining technical trade-offs and building cross-functional relationships.

Nice to have - Experience applying machine learning or computer vision to sports performance or analytics. - Background with real-time data pipelines or high-volume parallel cloud workloads.
