Senior Customer Onboarding Engineer
Job details
About this role
Role overview A remote cybersecurity company is hiring a Senior Customer Onboarding Engineer to own the first 30 days of new enterprise deployments of its autonomous security assessment platform. The role pairs deep technical troubleshooting across cloud, Linux, networking, containers, and identity with hands-on project management of customer onboarding milestones. When bandwidth allows, the engineer also supports standard support cases and contributes documentation for the broader support team.
Responsibilities - Lead kickoff conversations with customers and internal account teams, confirming scope, environments, identity and access paths, compliance constraints, and go-live criteria. - Project-manage a roughly 30-day onboarding plan, tracking blockers such as credential provisioning, firewall changes, identity-provider claims, and scheduled change windows. - Diagnose and resolve implementation failures across cloud infrastructure, networking, and security with rigor comparable to escalated support tickets, including root-cause analysis on first-time integration issues. - Configure and validate Linux production environments and containerized workloads using Docker and orchestrators such as Kubernetes, plus identity paths including RBAC, SSO (OAuth and SAML), and directory services such as Active Directory and LDAP. - Provision and troubleshoot assessment configurations across AWS, Azure, or GCP, and resolve network issues (TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs, load balancers) that commonly block go-live. - Collaborate cross-functionally with Customer Success, Engineering, Product, and Sales to unblock implementation issues, advocate for product improvements, and mentor junior onboarding or support engineers.
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. - 5+ years in technical support, systems administration, cloud operations, or implementation, ideally supporting large-scale or Fortune 500 deployments. - Strong Linux administration skills in production, including configuration, performance tuning, hardening, and troubleshooting. - Hands-on experience with Docker and container orchestration (Kubernetes or similar), plus solid working knowledge of at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation. - Cybersecurity background covering threat detection, vulnerability management, encryption standards, and compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 or GDPR. - Solid networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs, load balancers, and tools such as Wireshark and tcpdump) plus scripting ability in Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
Nice to have - Demonstrated self-learning through labs, certifications (for example AWS Solutions Architect, Linux+, or equivalent), personal projects, or open-source work. - Experience comparable to a junior cloud administrator in enterprise multi-tenant environments.
Benefits and work setup - Remote-first work environment. - Base salary range of $126,000 to $140,000 annually, depending on location, qualifications, and experience. - Equity package in the form of stock options for all full-time roles. - Health insurance coverage for employees and family, a flexible vacation policy, and generous parental leave.
