Remote job
Platform Engineer, Infrastructure
Job details
About this role
Role overview
A platform team runs its global edge network and high-performance services directly on bare metal as a deliberate choice for performance and cost. This role joins that Platform team to make the fleet faster to provision, safer to access, cheaper to run, and easier to scale. It is an intermediate position with significant room to grow, and prior blockchain or crypto experience is not required.
Responsibilities
- Automate the server lifecycle end to end: provisioning, OS installs, configuration, hardware validation, and decommissioning - Build and maintain the tooling engineers use to interact with the fleet so no machine gets hand-configured twice - Standardize how software is built and shipped to machines, including CI pipelines, artifacts, deploy tooling, and rollbacks - Execute security roadmap items alongside the security lead: SSO-integrated access, jump hosts, secrets management, least-privilege access, and audit trails - Run cost analysis across the fleet, including cost per workload, provider comparisons, and hardware refresh decisions, and turn findings into recommendations - Improve observability for the infrastructure owned and participate in on-call and incident response - Write clear runbooks and documentation so a remote team can operate what is built
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in infrastructure, DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering - Hands-on bare metal experience, such as provisioning and managing physical servers (PXE, IPMI/BMC, RAID, NICs), working with colocation or dedicated-server providers, and distinguishing hardware from software faults - Deep Linux fundamentals covering networking, storage, systemd, and performance tuning - Experience with configuration management and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Salt, or Nix - Solid scripting or programming ability in Python, Go, Bash, or a similar language - A security-first mindset that treats access, blast radius, and secrets as defaults rather than afterthoughts
Nice to have
- Rust experience, or willingness to read and debug Rust services - Background in high-performance networking or low-latency systems - Familiarity with ClickHouse, Prometheus, or Grafana - Experience at a high-scale B2B infrastructure company
Benefits and work setup
- Fully distributed, remote-first team with flexible work arrangements - Market-leading compensation, meaningful equity, generous vacation, wellness budgets, and support for learning and travel
