Role overview This is a Staff Platform Engineer role focused on the Observability ecosystem within a global workplace wellbeing platform. Based remotely in Brazil, the position is responsible for transforming observability from a passive monitoring toolset into a strategic, self-service platform that empowers engineering teams to own their services with confidence. The work spans metrics, logs, traces, and profiling at high cardinality and scale.
Responsibilities - Take end-to-end ownership of the observability stack, ensuring it remains resilient and scalable through rapid growth - Evolve and maintain cloud-native infrastructure based on Kubernetes, keeping the foundation at the state of the art - Build abstractions and "Golden Paths" that bridge infrastructure and developer experience, letting teams instrument their code with minimal friction - Address high-cardinality metrics, log retention, and distributed tracing challenges across the platform - Contribute to standards, guidelines, and best practices, formalized through processes like RFCs - Code in Golang, Ruby, or Python to build and maintain internal products and tooling
Requirements - Proven experience with observability practices and tooling across metrics, logs, traces, and profiling - Proficiency with a major cloud provider such as AWS, GCP, or Azure and its ecosystem for cloud-native applications - Deep knowledge of Kubernetes and its surrounding ecosystem - Hands-on experience with modern observability and platform technologies such as Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Thanos, Loki, Tempo, and Pyroscope
Nice to have - Experience with Kafka, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Crossplane, and HashiCorp Vault - Familiarity with public cloud provider ecosystems and infrastructure-as-code patterns
