Senior Security Engineer (Firewall) - Mid-Atlantic region

Role overview This is a senior security engineering role focused on enterprise firewall configuration and operations across the Mid-Atlantic region. The position centers on designing, deploying, and optimizing next-generation firewall estates for large environments, with a heavy emphasis on Palo Alto and Check Point cloud platforms.

Responsibilities - Design, implement, and manage firewall policies across Palo Alto and Check Point cloud virtual firewalls, optimizing rules to meet business and security requirements. - Configure and manage Prisma Access for secure remote access and cloud-delivered security, integrating it with existing security infrastructure. - Operate centralized management tooling such as Strata Cloud Manager and Panorama to deploy policies across multiple firewalls and manage Check Point cloud configurations. - Process firewall change requests following change control procedures, troubleshoot connectivity and policy issues, and perform configuration updates and enhancements. - Collaborate with network and security teams on firewall-related projects and use Splunk for log analysis and troubleshooting. - Leverage emerging technologies, including AI tools, to improve operational efficiency.

Requirements - 5+ years of network security experience, ideally with enterprise network background. - Strong, expert-level Palo Alto and Check Point cloud firewall configuration and engineering experience. - Hands-on experience with Prisma Access configuration and deployment. - Working experience with Palo Alto Networks Panorama for centralized management. - Palo Alto Networks Certified Cybersecurity Associate (PCCSA) or higher certification. - Strong routing and switching knowledge with firewall integration, plus experience managing large firewall deployments of 50+ firewalls.

Nice to have - Strata Cloud Manager experience. - Familiarity with FireMon Security Manager and other modules. - Tufin or similar firewall automation experience. - Azure networking experience. - Experience with Palo Alto Networks automation tools such as the Automation API and Terraform. - Integration experience with Palo Alto Networks capabilities like Threat Prevention, URL Filtering, and DNS Security. - Background in firewall rule optimization and cleanup projects.
