Azure Security Engineer- Remote (Anywhere in the U.S.)

Role overview

This remote position focuses on designing, implementing, and securing customer Azure cloud environments as part of a Microsoft-focused cloud security practice. The engineer serves as a subject matter expert working primarily in customer-facing engagements to strengthen cloud security posture through best-practice architectures and infrastructure-as-code approaches, with additional depth on emerging AI and API management workloads.

Responsibilities

- Design secure Azure cloud architectures using a secure-by-design approach across Commercial and Government Cloud tenants - Collaborate with customer IT teams to deploy, configure, and harden cloud resources following established security policies and standards - Build scalable, resilient Azure infrastructure using Terraform, ARM templates, Bicep, and PowerShell - Plan and execute migration strategies moving workloads from on-premises environments into Azure - Secure Microsoft Entra ID configurations and apply identity protections across customer environments - Create architectural and data-flow diagrams and design for high availability and disaster recovery

Requirements

- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing Azure infrastructure in commercial or government cloud environments - Hands-on expertise with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, ARM templates, Bicep, and PowerShell - Strong working knowledge of Azure landing zones, subscription management, networking, and security - Familiarity with AI platform engineering (Azure AI Foundry) and enterprise API management (Azure APIM) - Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to lead presentations, training, and working sessions

- Experience working within Azure Government Cloud tenants - Willingness to embrace AI-assisted tools to improve engineering workflows
