Job details
About this role
Role overview
Lead the architecture and hands-on evolution of an operational data platform that brings together information from internal systems, vendors, and partners. The role focuses on moving beyond batch-oriented integrations toward dependable, near-real-time data flows, while setting durable standards for data models, security, and platform operations.
Responsibilities
- Design end-to-end platform architecture for ingesting and processing streaming data, including patterns using Kafka, Flink, and Debezium or comparable tools. - Work with producer and consumer teams to define versioned canonical models, data contracts, and practices for sharing data internally and externally. - Establish governance, role-based access controls, and safeguards for sensitive health information and external data exchange. - Assess and select technologies for real-time data processing in line with compliance needs and platform direction. - Guide complex technical decisions by weighing delivery time, cost, complexity, and architectural risk. - Coach engineering and operations teams, and help identify practical opportunities to support AI use cases.
Requirements
- 8–15 years of experience designing and operating large-scale cloud data integrations, streaming pipelines, or operational data movement. - Strong practical knowledge of Kafka, Flink, Debezium or similar systems, stateful stream processing, and exactly-once delivery concepts. - Extensive AWS experience and a strong understanding of data observability, including freshness, volume, schema, distribution, and lineage. - Healthcare experience and knowledge of HIPAA, electronic protected health information, and secure data exchange. - Expert SQL and Python skills; familiarity with a JVM language such as Java is preferred. - Ability to lead ambiguous work independently and explain technical decisions to business and executive audiences.
