Senior Backend & AI Engineer (all identities)

Role overview

Own backend and AI engineering work for a digital medical rehabilitation platform, helping clinicians and care teams support patients. You’ll work in a small, agile team, taking features from design through release and operation while building reliable services and language-model workflows.

Responsibilities - Design, build, test, release, and operate Ruby on Rails services and APIs. - Develop data models, background jobs, and workflows for areas such as authorization and billing. - Create and improve LLM applications, agent workflows, and evaluation pipelines with repeatable quality checks. - Work with product and healthcare domain experts to turn complex needs into maintainable software. - Review technical changes, monitor production systems, and make clear engineering decisions. - Handle sensitive personal and health information with care.

Requirements - Strong backend engineering experience, including the ability to design and operate production services. - Practical Ruby on Rails experience and familiarity with API design, data models, and background processing. - Experience building or evaluating LLM-based applications and workflows. - Ability to own work across implementation, automated testing, release, and live support. - Sound judgment in technical reviews and collaboration with product and domain specialists. - Eligibility to work in Germany and residence in Germany from the first day; employment from abroad and visa sponsorship are not available.

Benefits and work setup - Gross annual salary range of €78,000–€88,000 for a 40-hour work week, with starting pay based on qualifications and experience. - The position requires physical presence in Germany; relocation assistance is not offered.
