Remote job
Staff AI Product Engineer
Job details
About this role
Role overview
Lead the design and delivery of AI-native product capabilities that support independent candidates and elected officials. This is a highly hands-on staff-level engineering role focused on turning early product ideas into working software quickly, improving development leverage across the team, and advancing practical applications of agents and frontier AI in production.
Responsibilities
- Own substantial parts of user-facing products, from technical direction and architecture through implementation and iteration. - Convert loosely defined product concepts into functional MVPs in days, then continuously improve the speed and efficiency of delivery. - Build, evaluate, and refine agent-based systems and AI workflows for real-world use. - Establish reusable engineering patterns and internal processes that measurably increase team productivity. - Work across the stack and provide technical leadership without direct people-management responsibility. - Communicate clearly in a fully remote environment, especially when priorities or requirements are changing.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience shipping and iterating on production AI systems with meaningful user adoption. - Hands-on expertise with evaluation systems, agent graphs, and broader agent engineering practices. - A track record of independently delivering improvements that significantly increase the output of a broader engineering team. - Strong product judgment and the ability to move from an ambiguous idea to a useful implementation rapidly. - Comfort experimenting with emerging AI capabilities while measuring what works in practice. - Excellent written and remote communication skills, with the ability to create clarity in uncertain or fast-moving situations.
Nice to have
- Professional or volunteer experience in civic technology, political campaigns, democracy reform, or other social-impact work.
Benefits and work setup
- Full-time, fully remote position for candidates physically located in the United States; sponsorship is not available. - Listed salary range of $200,000–$235,000, with final compensation based on experience, skills, qualifications, seniority, and organizational needs. - Health, dental, and vision coverage for employees and dependents. - Unlimited vacation and sick leave, a retirement savings plan without an employer match, and an individual learning budget. - Home-office setup support plus a monthly allowance for internet and other remote-work expenses; coworking may also be accommodated. - Additional deferred bonus opportunity tied to Bitcoin-denominated compensation.
