Senior / Staff Product Manager - IoT Connected Devices

Role overview

A senior product leader is sought to own the in-field device surface of an equipment monitoring portfolio, including rugged asset gateways, beacons, environmental sensors, and future form factors. This is a hardware-and-firmware product role with unusual leverage: the device line anchors multi-product enterprise deals and shapes the credibility of the broader platform. The position partners closely with electrical, embedded, mechanical, quality, manufacturing, supply chain, and program management teams while collaborating with cloud and mobile counterparts.

Responsibilities

- Drive the hardware and firmware roadmap for connected equipment monitoring devices, from concept through mass production and post-launch iteration. - Lead new product introduction end-to-end, including sourcing, EVT/DVT/PVT gates, regulatory and carrier certifications, MP ramp, and stabilization. - Own installed-base health metrics such as field failure rates, RMA rates, real-world battery life, connectivity and positioning performance, and install success. - Prioritize firmware capabilities including power optimization, connectivity resilience, sensor fusion, OTA reliability, security, and fleet-level observability. - Lead the product side of device partnerships that extend asset visibility through partner and mesh networks. - Write PRDs and technical specs that keep hardware, firmware, mechanical, quality, supply chain, and TPM aligned through every gate.

Requirements

- 6+ years of product management experience with substantial time shipping IoT, telematics, tracking, or connected hardware from concept through mass production. - Proven ownership of at least one full hardware NPI that reached material volume, ideally 100K+ units, including certification and supplier relationships. - Deep technical fluency in battery-powered connected systems, including MCUs/SoCs, power management, RF and antenna design, GNSS, cellular (LTE-M, NB-IoT, 4G, 5G), BLE, and environmental ratings. - Direct experience owning firmware roadmaps, OTA strategy and staged rollouts, device provisioning, telemetry design, and observability for harsh, bandwidth-constrained deployments. - Demonstrated ownership of field reliability, including diagnosing deployed failures and improving post-launch metrics.

Nice to have

- Familiarity with automotive and off-highway protocols such as CAN, OBD-II, and J1939, and with industrial data standards such as AEMP 2.0. - Experience with BLE mesh, LPWAN, or other crowd-sourced location networks and the product decisions that come with depending on infrastructure you don't own. - Track record working with global contract manufacturers and managing multi-region sourcing, logistics, and compliance.
