About this role

Role overview A senior security engineer focused on hardware and embedded devices is needed to serve as the primary security partner to engineering and hardware teams. The role spans design reviews, threat modeling, and the creation of secure-by-default libraries, services, and components that let hardware engineers ship safely at scale. It is a strategic and highly technical position for an architect who wants to influence device security across the full product lifecycle, from boot chain and firmware through FOTA, manufacturing, and decommissioning.

Responsibilities - Build the hardware and embedded security baseline and process across device lines, including boot chain, firmware, firmware-over-the-air updates, and manufacturing - Partner closely with hardware engineering to ensure security findings are prioritized, validated, and remediated - Identify and assess hardware security risks across designing, manufacturing, deployment, updating, and decommissioning stages - Lead hardware security architecture reviews, threat modeling, and security testing for product systems - Define and review security requirements for hardware platforms, embedded systems, firmware interfaces, boot processes, debug capabilities, and device lifecycle controls in cloud-connected environments - Drive end-to-end security for device hardware across IoT and cloud security infrastructure

Requirements - 5+ years of hardware security experience, including embedding security-by-design patterns into new devices and platforms - 5+ years working with product teams to author security designs and supply security requirements - 5+ years of hands-on development experience in Python and C/C++ - Strong understanding of hardware root of trust, secure boot, attestation, key protection, device identity, and secure provisioning - Demonstrated experience designing, reviewing, and validating security controls for hardware and low-level system architectures - Working knowledge of cloud security, runtime security, supply chain security, and application security best practices

Benefits and work setup - Compensation range for Canada-based hires of $146,000 to $184,000 CAD; total compensation may include restricted stock units - Health, pharmacy, optical, and dental benefits; paid time off and sick leave - Short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, and 401(k) contribution (subject to eligibility) - Applicants must be authorized to access commodities and technologies controlled under U.S. Export Administration Regulations - Some interviews or new-hire training may be held in person at a global office
