About this role
Role overview Build and maintain Android features for a customized launcher and related applications in a modular codebase. The work spans Compose interfaces, shared libraries, release experiments, and the reliability of apps used in production. This is a remote, full-time contract role for an English-fluent engineer based in Latin America, working with a distributed team.
Responsibilities - Extend a customized Android launcher and develop home-screen, widget, and other feature interfaces with Compose. - Investigate and fix application-not-responding events, crashes, slow startup, and memory problems using performance and crash evidence. - Release features using remote configuration and A/B experiments, then use results to guide follow-up work. - Maintain and contribute to a shared core library used across multiple applications. - Take ongoing ownership of an app or module, including its bugs, architecture, and design.
Requirements - At least three years of professional Android development experience. - Strong understanding of Android lifecycles, coroutines, memory use, process death, permission handling, and dependency injection such as Koin. - Experience with production Jetpack Compose, including state, recomposition, and performance considerations. - Sound MVVM architecture practices, lifecycle-aware data flow, and a single source of truth for application state. - Clear communication skills for frequent releases and collaboration across time zones. - Ability to use AI coding tools effectively.
Nice to have Launcher or system-level Android experience; having shipped and maintained a production app; familiarity with Firebase Remote Config, Crashlytics, or Analytics; ad SDK or mediation integrations; or Flutter and other cross-platform development.
