Role overview A remote contract opportunity for an English-fluent Packaging Production Designer based in Latin America, supporting the development of fragrance and beauty packaging for mass retail. The role blends production-ready mechanical artwork with creative packaging design, sitting at the intersection of brand direction, prepress execution, and vendor collaboration.
Responsibilities - Build accurate mechanical files from approved creative direction, applying dielines, bleeds, safety margins, and print specifications across cartons, labels, inserts, and secondary packaging. - Prepare vendor-ready artwork including CMYK and spot color separations, trapping, overprint/knockout, white/varnish/foil plates, and bundled assets with linked files and fonts. - Design fragrance collections covering graphics, line architecture, color, and typography, and scale brand direction across SKUs, size variants, and line extensions while maintaining consistency across substrates. - Preflight and quality-check artwork, manage revisions and version control, and collaborate with suppliers to resolve manufacturability issues during proofing and press checks. - Maintain organized asset libraries, dieline repositories, naming conventions, spec sheets, and production checklists, while ensuring compliance with retailer guidelines and labeling regulations. - Create presentation-ready mockups and simple sell-in decks, and recommend cost-efficient material, finish, and layout choices.
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Packaging Design, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. - 3+ years of packaging production design experience in CPG, beauty, fragrance, or a related category. - Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign for packaging production workflows. - Strong typography skills including hierarchy, legibility, kerning, and grid systems applied to packaging. - Solid prepress and print production knowledge covering Pantone/CMYK, spot colors, foil and emboss plates, varnishes, dielines, and substrates.
Nice to have - PowerPoint for editing decks. - 3D rendering experience for bottles and packaging using tools such as KeyShot, Adobe Dimension, Blender, or Cinema 4D. - Basic understanding of packaging engineering or CAD workflows and vendor collaboration.
Benefits and work setup - Fully remote position, independent contractor engagement via a payroll platform. - Monthly compensation of USD $1,800 to $2,000, depending on seniority and skill set.
