About this role

Role overview

As the first Developer Advocate, you will help developers and founders understand, try, and successfully use a technical product. The role blends software development, technical writing, education, community engagement, and public communication. You may build a working demo, write documentation, record a tutorial, answer community questions, and gather product feedback within the same week.

Responsibilities

- Create practical technical content including tutorials, implementation guides, blog posts, and video walkthroughs. - Build demo applications and sample code that show how an API and integrations can be used. - Improve, organize, and maintain developer documentation. - Represent the product at conferences, meetups, online communities, and other developer-focused events. - Engage with developers through social platforms, chat communities, forums, livestreams, AMAs, and webinars. - Collect recurring developer feedback and communicate useful insights to the product team.

Requirements

- At least two years of experience in developer relations, developer advocacy, or technical content. - Ability to code, with JavaScript or TypeScript proficiency at minimum. - Strong writing skills across documentation, tutorials, blog posts, and short-form social content. - Experience creating video content using YouTube, Loom, screen-recording, or comparable tools. - An active presence in developer or founder communities. - Strong public-speaking and presentation skills, along with empathy for developers and their day-to-day frustrations.

Nice to have

- An established audience on social media, YouTube, or a newsletter. - Experience with Next.js, React, and modern web development. - Founder or indie-hacker experience. - Background writing API documentation or speaking at conferences.
