Staff Security Engineer

Role overview

Serve as a senior technical authority shaping security architecture for systems that handle sensitive healthcare information. Responsibilities

- Lead security design reviews for critical systems and ensure new features meet requirements for data protection, resilience, and secure development. - Apply deep expertise in one or more areas such as cloud security, application security, or data security to resolve complex technical and business risks. - Challenge inefficient or inadequate technical approaches and redirect work toward higher-impact risk reduction. - Build automated defenses, monitoring capabilities, and response tooling that improve security operations and incident handling. - Turn broad security objectives into practical architectural requirements, defined deliverables, and executable plans for engineering teams. - Raise engineering standards through rigorous code and design reviews, mentorship, and security-focused technical guidance.

Requirements

- Exceptional technical judgment and a record of making high-impact security decisions with durable results. - Strong analytical and strategic problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify root causes and prioritize initiatives by risk reduction. - Ability to communicate complex security concerns clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders and build alignment across teams. - Experience handling escalations or security incidents methodically, with disciplined investigation and thorough resolution. - A continuous-improvement mindset focused on reducing technical debt and increasing the effectiveness of security infrastructure. - Comfort working with technologies such as Python, Kubernetes, Snowflake, AWS, Terraform, Wiz, or Cyberhaven; equivalent experience in relevant security tooling may also apply.
