About this role
Role overview
Lead complex reliability and infrastructure work for a platform that supports product engineering teams. The role combines hands-on operation of cloud and Kubernetes services with technical leadership: setting engineering standards, shaping platform designs, and mentoring other reliability engineers.
Responsibilities
- Design and operate secure, highly available AWS infrastructure across accounts and environments, including EKS clusters, networking, storage, and scaling. - Evolve shared platform services such as Kubernetes, cloud networking, databases, and messaging systems. - Set standards for infrastructure as code and GitOps, and lead automation that makes environments consistent and reduces manual operations. - Improve platform observability and reliability; lead complex incident response, participate in on-call, and document runbooks, decisions, and postmortems. - Guide infrastructure security and cost management, including access controls, encryption, rightsizing, and autoscaling. - Mentor engineers, review technical work, and partner with product teams on platform needs and cross-team initiatives.
Requirements
- Strong Linux administration skills and scripting experience with Python. - Production experience with AWS and EKS, including IAM, VPC networking, databases and storage services, Kubernetes operations, Helm, CNI networking, and container security. - Proficiency with Terraform and infrastructure state management; experience with Terragrunt and ArgoCD is relevant. - Experience operating production databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB, including Aurora. - CI/CD experience with Jenkins or GitHub Actions, and familiarity with deployment approaches such as canary or blue-green releases. - Practical incident management and on-call experience, plus the ability to communicate technical topics and mentor colleagues.
Nice to have
- Experience with GCP, Kafka or AWS MSK, or compliance-sensitive environments. - Experience shaping a self-service platform or developer experience roadmap for engineering teams.
Benefits and work setup
- Remote work or an office option in Riga, with flexible start times. - Private health insurance, additional wellbeing and celebration leave, and access to learning, mentorship, meetups, and hackathons. - Office-based employees can receive lunch; team events and a merchandise discount are also offered.
