Product Documentation Writer

Role overview

This role owns customer-facing product documentation for a large, complex SaaS ecosystem serving nonprofit organizations worldwide. The writer takes full responsibility for release articles, live content accuracy, feedback triage, and refreshing older material as release cycles permit, working directly with a Russian-speaking product team to source product behavior and translate it into polished English.

Responsibilities

- Turn feature specifications into published articles that go live the same day a release ships, with no lag between product launch and documentation. - Verify every published claim against the actual product and platform rather than relying on specs or assumptions. - Triage incoming feedback on live documentation, identify the real problem behind each report, and close it out with a corrected article. - Refactor older articles that no longer meet the current quality standard as release workload allows. - Produce and maintain the screenshots, screen recordings, and short walkthroughs that accompany release work. - Collaborate with English-speaking colleagues across departments to surface and close gaps in existing documentation.

Requirements

- 3+ years writing technical or product documentation, or comparable tech content. - Near-native written English (C1/C2) with a consistent voice across a large article set. - Working Russian, enough to source product behavior directly from a Russian-speaking team and press for missing detail. - Comfort with technical material, including reading tech specs, following basic API behavior, and writing about it accurately. - Ability to record, edit, and ship clear screen-recorded walkthroughs, not only written content. - Self-sufficiency in applying a documentation standard without hand-holding and improving older work to meet it.

Nice to have

- Deeper experience with REST APIs and developer-facing documentation. - Editorial background, including leading or contributing to an editorial process. - Product marketing or UX writing experience. - Prior work in a bilingual Russian/English product or engineering organization.

Benefits and work setup

Remote position based in Portugal. Compensation is €3,200–€3,800 gross per month, depending on experience and qualifications.
