About this role

Role overview This is a senior leadership seat partnering with a CTO to run the operating system of a large engineering organization. The work centers on ownership without authority: turning ownerless, cross-team ambiguity into named owners through disciplined process, follow-through, and executive-level synthesis. The position is remote within Spain and supports engineering leadership across European and US hours.

Responsibilities - Own the director-level leadership cadence end to end, including agendas, documented decisions, and post-meeting follow-through. - Run the quarterly OKR and QBR cycle, driving teams to set and update objectives, chasing follow-ups, surfacing slippage, and preparing the reviews. - Maintain a single live record of leadership decisions and commitments, and chase each one to closure by its agreed date. - Continuously scan for stalled or ownerless cross-team work and bring it back on track with a named DRI and a checkpoint. - Drive special projects to a chartered state, then hand them off cleanly and stop retaining them personally.

Requirements - Track record running the operating system of an engineering organization, most likely as a TPM lead, head of engineering operations, or equivalent. - Demonstrated ownership of ambiguous, multi-team initiatives coordinated and landed through influence without direct authority. - Experience turning raw, complex information into brief, decisive, executive-level material. - Ability to build durable follow-up loops and systems, not just run meetings. - Sufficient technical fluency to follow engineering discussions and coordinate them, without acting as architecture authority. - Fluent English at C1+ and fluent Russian for internal and external technical communication.

Nice to have - Prior Chief of Staff, Engineering Operations, or TPM-lead experience reporting into engineering leadership. - Experience driving operational efficiency in engineering organizations of 100+ people, including use of automation and AI tooling. - Procurement, vendor-contracting, or budgeting experience. - Familiarity with nonprofit technology or payments domains. - Familiarity with environments using Node.js/NestJS, React, MongoDB, ClickHouse, Kafka, and Cloudflare, alongside compliance regimes such as PCI DSS 4.0.1, SOC 2 Type II, and ISO 27001.

Benefits and work setup - Compensation range: €8,200 to €9,300 gross per month, with final figures based on experience, skills, qualifications, and role alignment. - Private medical insurance covering the employee and their family. - 23 paid vacation days, 11 paid public holidays, and 5 company-paid sick leave days per year. - English learning courses and funding for relevant professional education. - Gym or swimming pool support and home office setup assistance, with remote-first working and co-working access.
