About this role
Role overview A technical product manager role plans and coordinates engineering initiatives for a commercial data platform and data products supporting laboratory, commercial, and R&D teams. The position bridges business, lab, and engineering stakeholders to deliver scalable, compliant software infrastructure while applying Agile methodologies to drive execution.
Responsibilities - Define requirements and manage development processes, systems, and software infrastructure for the data platform and tools supporting commercial and R&D initiatives. - Partner with lab and business stakeholders to clarify requirements, optimize workflows, and lead data platform and product definition while ensuring alignment with regulatory standards such as HIPAA and HITECH. - Translate product requirements into Epics and Stories with clear user acceptance criteria in collaboration with engineers. - Track and drive development using issue tracking tools such as Jira to ensure fulfillment of requirements. - Facilitate productive interactions between users and engineers so that user needs are understood and met. - Create and operationalize a comprehensive technical strategy and integrated roadmap for data products, pipelines, and tooling across current and future programs. - Provide a clear vision for future development with scalability and accessibility in mind. - Ensure data integrity throughout the pipeline through technical and process-oriented solutions.
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in an analytical, technical, or scientific field; advanced degree preferred. - At least five years of experience in a software development environment, ideally within biotechnology and next-generation sequencing. - Deep expertise in identifying and prioritizing software features. - Demonstrated ability to lead complex trade-off decisions across functions and measurably improve organizational success. - Experience leading software development efforts to meet regulated market standards such as FDA, CAP/CLIA, or within laboratory operations, medical affairs, or clinical study operations for diagnostics.
Nice to have - Experience building solutions with a focus on multiomics, next-generation sequencing, or proteomics.
Benefits and work setup - Remote position with occasional onsite travel to headquarters in Brisbane, California. - Reports to the Associate Director of Technical Product Management. - US base salary target range of $118,150 to $167,475 for new hires, with eligibility for equity, cash bonuses, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits. - Individual compensation determined by location, skill level, experience depth, and education.
