Role overview A Senior Telecom Engineer role supporting a 24/7 cloud contact center production environment. The work involves operating, troubleshooting, and improving a global voice network built on VoIP and SIP infrastructure, partnering directly with customer telecom teams to keep services stable.
Responsibilities - Interface with customer telecom engineers and IT teams to deploy customized solutions and resolve issues - Provide day-to-day operational support of the telecommunications network and analyze problems affecting availability and service quality - Serve as the escalation point for critical alerts from Session Border Controllers and lead preventive measures - Perform root-cause analyses on service outages and deliver corrective actions in coordination with the Network Operations Center - Manage telecom service providers and vendors, and execute hardware and software deployments across the telephony network - Deploy new services including interop testing with carriers and customers, and create technical documentation and call flow drawings - Participate in an on-call emergency rotation
Requirements - 3+ years of telecom engineering experience with VoIP/SIP voice applications - Detailed working and theoretical knowledge of voice and data communications including SIP, TCP/IP, MPLS, and traditional switching - Hands-on experience with Ribbon SBCs and PSX, plus familiarity with Session Border Controllers, softswitches, SIP proxies, and media servers - Working knowledge of VoIP protocols and codecs such as H.248, SIP, G.711, G.729, WebRTC, UDP, RTP, and MTP - Knowledge of SIP call routing, Least Cost Routing, and security controls including TLS, IPSEC, and ACLs - Familiarity with international routing, DIDs, toll free numbering, LATA, OCN, and NPA-NXX - Strong troubleshooting skills using Wireshark, Empirix, or equivalent protocol analyzers, with intermediate Linux/Unix command ability - Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
