About this role
Role overview A Network Engineer role maintaining IP networking components in a 24/7 software-as-a-service (SaaS) production environment. The position supports new network product offerings, integrates business partners and acquisitions into a supportable design, and partners closely with network architects to improve WAN connectivity.
Responsibilities - Participate in projects introducing new network product offerings and operational improvements. - Integrate business partners and acquisitions into a supportable network design. - Review and analyze the history of network-related incidents and implement preventive measures. - Troubleshoot network issues and communicate status to customers and internal stakeholders. - Assist in managing network service providers and equipment lifecycle. - Provide capacity analysis and planning, and review, analyze, and execute network change requests. - Support customer network activations and partner with internal business units to apply standards for operational excellence.
Requirements - 3+ years of experience in medium-to-large networks covering IP routing, switching, and security principles. - Working knowledge of MPLS, OSPF, BGP, and LAN/WAN router platforms. - Understanding of real-time traffic queuing and prioritization on LAN and WAN networks. - Hands-on experience with Cisco IOS-XE (IOS-XR and Nexus OS preferred), Cisco Nexus 7k, ASR 1000 and 9000 routers, and SSL-VPN. - Experience with large data center implementations, inter-business routing plans, site-to-site IPSEC VPNs, firewalls, and MPLS VPNs. - Strong data-driven analytical approach and excellent oral and written communication skills.
Nice to have - Telecommunications experience including VoIP, RTP, SIP peering/trunking, and SBC. - Background in incident response, information assurance, vulnerability management, SIEM, IPS/IDS, and TCP/IP traffic analysis. - Linux networking knowledge, SaaS/cloud environment experience, Cisco ACI familiarity, and AWS or GCP exposure.
