About this role
Role overview An on-site engineering role based in Atlanta, GA, responsible for building, installing, and continuously optimizing the physical hardware that powers a production data center. The position is fully on-site five days per week, with participation in an on-call rotation and 24x7 support for customer-facing operations.
Responsibilities - Design and implement data center layouts and infrastructure that balance performance, scalability, and security - Build, install, and maintain compute, network, and storage hardware, racks, PDUs, and structured cabling - Monitor infrastructure health, calculate cabinet-level power usage and balancing, and prevent service degradation - Maintain accurate asset inventory in DCIM tools for both production and lab environments - Coordinate with remote hands at distributed sites and provide technical direction to other engineers - Handle shipping, receiving, and RMA activities; uphold documentation standards - Participate in on-call rotation, incident response, and root cause analysis - Plan cooling, power, and space resources and follow change management for off-hours work
Requirements - 4+ years of hands-on experience with data center technologies across compute, network, storage, cabling, racks, and PDUs - Strong knowledge of networking, servers, storage, and virtualization, with experience in data center design and implementation - Linux/Unix administration plus networking and SAN connectivity skills - Coding ability to automate repetitive tasks and generate reports - Experience supporting 24x7 customer-facing production environments and working with vendors on quotes, purchases, and RMAs - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience - Ability to lift up to 75 lbs
