About this role
Role overview Provide technical leadership for monitoring, evaluation, data quality, and data use across a multi-country polio program. The role standardizes how project and surveillance indicators are collected, checked, analyzed, and reported, then turns findings into decisions about implementation, geographic priorities, and technical support. It also strengthens the ability of country teams and government counterparts to use evidence consistently.
Responsibilities - Establish common indicator definitions and processes for data collection, validation, aggregation, and reporting across participating countries. - Monitor performance against work plans and targets, identify data quality concerns, and support timely, accurate reporting. - Analyze acute flaccid paralysis, environmental surveillance, laboratory, specimen referral, case investigation, and related program indicators. - Examine geographic and subnational variation to identify surveillance gaps and distinguish performance issues from data or reporting weaknesses. - Turn analyses into recommendations for targeting, resource allocation, corrective action, and technical assistance. - Develop analytical tools, dashboards, guidance, and learning materials; lead or support country and cross-country data reviews. - Mentor country teams and counterparts in data management, analysis, interpretation, visualization, and evidence use.
Requirements - Strong knowledge of polio monitoring and evaluation and surveillance systems, including acute flaccid paralysis, environmental surveillance, laboratory indicators, and relevant global performance standards. - Experience leading indicator development, data validation, analysis, interpretation, and reporting across multiple countries or levels. - Strong analytical judgment to assess surveillance performance, subnational gaps, and data quality issues. - Ability to translate findings into practical program recommendations and communicate them to technical and non-technical stakeholders. - Skill in building capacity through technical assistance, mentoring, and support for country work plans and performance targets.
