Role overview A senior security engineering role on a remote Information Security team, reporting to the Security Engineering Manager. The position focuses on protecting digital sports and gaming assets by designing, implementing, and maintaining defensive controls across cloud and endpoint environments, with a strong emphasis on AWS, incident response, and proactive threat hunting.
Responsibilities - Continuously evaluate and tune security platforms covering Data Loss Prevention, Vulnerability Management, Identity and Access Management, Web Application Firewall, Email Protection, and Endpoint Protection. - Evaluate and roll out Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR) tooling, while building a reusable script library to automate threat hunting, detection, and digital forensics. - Design and refine detection content and observability pipelines, maintaining a cloud-based SIEM by ensuring log ingestion coverage and alert quality. - Serve as a lead incident responder when major events occur, participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation for critical escalations. - Track emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and security trends, and run internal phishing campaigns as part of security awareness training. - Partner with engineering and product teams to ensure secure implementation guidelines are followed across new initiatives.
Requirements - At least 8 years of experience as a security engineer or in a comparable hands-on role. - Proficiency in incident response, threat hunting, and cloud security with a primary focus on AWS. - Practical purple team experience spanning offensive and defensive strategy. - Working knowledge of identity management protocols such as OAuth, SAML, and OpenID Connect. - Strong scripting skills in Python or Bash, used to automate workflows and response playbooks. - Demonstrated ability to draft standards, policies, and architecture documentation, and to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to have - Familiarity with Cloudflare, Datadog, Wiz, and Tines. - Background automating response playbooks with SOAR platforms. - Infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform or Ansible. - Foundational understanding of agile methodologies for cross-team collaboration. - Relevant certifications such as OSCP, SSCP, or GSEC.
Benefits and work setup - Remote position within the United States. - Base salary range of $161,000 to $212,000 USD, plus bonus potential for full-time staff. - Compensation varies by geographic zone and is subject to change based on the confirmed offer location. - Some interview and onboarding stages may include in-person components, with travel expectations clarified by the recruiter based on role and location.
