Senior Java Software Engineer (Remote)

Role overview A senior engineering role focused on building and maintaining the internal platforms that power customer operations, marketing, support, risk, and data workflows for a sportsbook environment. The position is primarily backend Java work with opportunities to contribute to internal user-facing tooling, and it involves close collaboration with cross-functional partners on integration-heavy systems.

Responsibilities - Design, build, and maintain Java-based backend services using frameworks such as Spring Boot. - Develop scalable, well-tested services that integrate with CRM platforms and other internal or external systems. - Participate in architecture and design discussions covering APIs, data flows, and distributed systems. - Contribute to integration work between backend services and a CRM platform using REST APIs, events, or middleware. - Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across services, integrations, and data pipelines. - Support internal web applications and UI layers backed by Java services, collaborating across frontend and backend boundaries. - Partner with product managers, program managers, and operations, support, marketing, risk, and data teams to translate requirements into reliable technical solutions. - Follow and improve engineering best practices including CI/CD, code reviews, testing strategies, and observability.

Requirements - 6+ years of professional software engineering experience with Java. - Strong background building and operating backend services in production environments. - Hands-on experience developing APIs and integrating services with other systems. - Familiarity with distributed systems, data flows, and service-to-service communication patterns. - Experience with Git-based workflows, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines. - Strong independent problem-solving skills on complex systems, plus excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Nice to have - Experience contributing to internal web UIs or tooling, including Java-based web frameworks or modern JavaScript frameworks consuming Java APIs. - Experience working with a CRM platform as an integration partner, including Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flows, or platform APIs. - Event-driven architectures such as Kafka or similar messaging systems. - Cloud experience, preferably AWS, along with exposure to highly available or regulated systems such as gaming, fintech, or payments. - Familiarity with AI model or agent platforms and AI-powered coding assistants used to accelerate development while maintaining code quality.
