Senior/Lead Automation QA Engineer (TypeScript, Playwright)

Role overview

This role leads the quality engineering strategy for an education-sector software platform that unifies tools for recruiting, hiring, absence and time management, and special education programs serving thousands of institutions. As a senior member of the team, you will own end-to-end test automation across multiple products, shape QA standards, and introduce AI-assisted approaches to modernise testing workflows.

Responsibilities

- Define and own the QA strategy across the products in scope, including regression planning ahead of releases - Build and maintain automated end-to-end tests using Playwright and TypeScript - Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated test execution - Develop API-level tests and validate test data using SQL - Maintain and operate across multiple automation frameworks - Lead root cause analysis for significant defect trends and recurring bug volumes - Standardise QA processes and practices across projects - Mentor junior and mid-level automation engineers and provide technical leadership - Explore and prototype AI agents and AI-driven solutions to improve QA workflows - Participate in Agile ceremonies, provide QA estimates, and communicate progress, risks, and technical topics to engineering and business stakeholders

Requirements

- Proven experience as a Senior Automation QA Engineer or AQA Lead - Strong hands-on expertise with Playwright and TypeScript - Solid background in API testing and SQL for test data validation - Experience maintaining and working across multiple automation frameworks - Familiarity with designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines - Track record of designing and executing regression testing strategies - Leadership, mentoring, and clear communication skills - Experience working in Agile teams and producing QA estimates - Willingness to overlap with European business hours, working morning to early afternoon local LATAM time (approximately until 2 PM BRT / 12 PM COT) - Intermediate+ written and spoken English

- Hands-on experience with root cause analysis and defect trend reporting - Experience standardising QA practices across multiple teams or projects - Experience implementing AI-driven QA solutions
