Systems Engineer

Role overview A cloud-first IT organization is hiring a Systems Engineer to keep internal infrastructure secure, reliable, and easy to use. The role blends SaaS administration, automation, and onsite technology stewardship, with end-to-end ownership of cross-functional projects that remove manual work from daily operations.

Responsibilities - Administer and maintain IT systems across a cloud-first environment, with responsibility for security and uptime. - Manage employee identity and access from onboarding through offboarding, ensuring timely provisioning and deprovisioning. - Serve as the primary point of contact for owned systems and services, communicating clearly about disruptions and changes. - Lead large cross-functional projects from scoping through delivery, coordinating across multiple teams. - Build automations and integrations that streamline operations and reduce friction before users notice it. - Apply AI tooling, including large language model platforms and emerging standards for connecting systems, to accelerate day-to-day work. - Maintain shared-space technology such as network gear, conference room AV, kiosk computers, and similar equipment at the Herndon, Virginia headquarters. - Collaborate with the security team to protect information and contribute to quarterly and yearly roadmap goals through two-week sprints. - Document automations, configurations, and operating procedures.

Requirements - 5+ years of professional IT experience, including at least 2 years in an engineering or systems administration capacity. - Proficiency administering enterprise SaaS products such as Okta, Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, Jira, Confluence, and Microsoft 365. - Experience automating tasks and integrating systems using platforms like Workato, Okta Workflows, or Microsoft Power Automate. - Hands-on experience with AI platforms and prompt engineering, including familiarity with standards like the Model Context Protocol. - Working knowledge of authentication and integration concepts including SAML, OIDC, SCIM, REST APIs, webhooks, JWT, and OAuth 2.0. - Programming or scripting ability in Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Ruby, plus macOS and Windows administration using MDMs such as Jamf and Intune.

Nice to have - Familiarity with conference room AV and shared-space technology, plus Cisco Meraki and core networking concepts like VLANs, DNS, DHCP, and wireless. - Strong project management skills on large cross-functional initiatives and the ability to balance urgent, interrupt-driven work with longer-term projects. - Clear written and verbal communication, comfort translating technical concepts for non-technical audiences, and a customer-service mindset toward colleagues.

Benefits and work setup - Fully remote within the United States, with proximity to the Herndon, Virginia headquarters considered a plus for occasional onsite needs. - Base salary range of $93,900 to $136,200 USD, plus bonus eligibility and equity, with a primary targeting band of $105,000 to $125,000 based on experience. - Unlimited paid time off, work location flexibility, up to 24 weeks of parental leave, and comprehensive health benefits. - US work authorization required; visa sponsorship is not currently offered.
