Backend Engineer

Role overview A backend engineering position on a team building an AI-native platform for managed compliance and security services. The work centers on distributed, cloud-native systems that power 24/7 monitoring, endpoint protection, IT support, and compliance program automation for regulated industries.

Responsibilities - Design and implement scalable backend services that support compliance and cybersecurity product capabilities - Build and maintain event-driven systems, messaging pipelines, and APIs that connect to cloud infrastructure - Strengthen CI/CD workflows, DevOps practices, and production observability across services - Shape the architecture of fault-tolerant, distributed systems running on container orchestration platforms - Integrate AI/ML capabilities into backend workflows to automate security and IT operations - Provide technical leadership, mentor teammates, and collaborate across engineering groups

Requirements - Strong proficiency in Python or a comparable backend language - Hands-on experience with container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes or ECS - Solid understanding of distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, and fault-tolerant design - Experience with event-driven systems and messaging technologies - Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions) and production observability tooling - Strong problem-solving abilities paired with team-leadership communication skills - Background in RMM, security, IT management, or enterprise SaaS platforms

Nice to have - Practical experience integrating AI/ML capabilities into backend systems - REST and/or GraphQL API design experience - Infrastructure-as-code proficiency with Terraform or CloudFormation - Open-source contributions or demonstrated technical thought leadership
