On Demand Services Engineer (Req #1434)

Role overview

This on-demand engineering role delivers network, security, and systems support to enterprise clients, working as a customer-interfacing contact to resolve issues and improve stability within production environments. Engineers operate within a 24/7 follow-the-sun team using rotating shifts, handling tickets and project work with independent judgment while keeping management informed of escalations.

Responsibilities

- Troubleshoot, isolate, and diagnose network and systems problems alone or as part of a team - Provide end-to-end support covering design, development, troubleshooting, and problem resolution for client systems - Work a 7x24x365 schedule on rotating shifts with the ability to function with independent discretion - Manage assigned ticket and project queues, closing tickets correctly and on time - Maintain toolkit inventory and replace components as required - Stay current on computing technologies and solutions to common problems and inform performance improvement feedback

Requirements

- High school diploma required; college degree preferred - 1-2 years of networking experience plus 1-3 years of field and client-facing experience - CCNA certification upon hire or within six months of employment - Experience or training with Cisco, Nortel, 3Com, Microsoft NT, NetWare, or VMware platforms - Working knowledge of two or more routing protocols such as IP, IPX, EIGRP, OSPF, or RIP - Understanding of WAN and LAN concepts, switching (VLAN, ATM), DHCP/DNS, and basic protocol analysis with a LAN analyzer

Nice to have

- Familiarity with proprietary management tools such as CiscoWorks, Transcend, Optivity, or Spectrum - Hardware experience with NICs, hard drives, controllers, and WAN technologies including Frame Relay, CSU/DSU, and T-1
