Job details
About this role
Role overview Build dependable data foundations for payment, settlement and consumer data products in a regulated environment. You’ll develop batch and near-real-time pipelines and governed lakehouse products that support analytics, fraud, finance and operational decisions, working autonomously with colleagues across technical and business teams.
Responsibilities - Ingest and model data from operational systems, event stores and external sources in a lakehouse. - Build production pipelines with orchestration, retries, monitoring, alerting, reconciliation and incident response. - Define data contracts for schemas, ownership, quality, freshness targets and breaking changes. - Apply privacy and governance controls, including personal data classification, access, retention and auditability. - Create reusable tooling, templates and deployment workflows for data product teams. - Improve storage, compute and query performance while contributing to cloud cost oversight. - Work with analytics, backend, fraud, finance, product and platform teams; document key data and technical decisions.
Requirements - At least eight years of relevant experience in data engineering, backend data systems or a related field. - Strong SQL and Python skills for production data pipelines. - Production experience with Databricks or a comparable lakehouse, including governance, scheduling, deployment and Delta Lake design. - Experience with dbt modelling, tests, documentation and DAG management. - Practical knowledge of orchestration, CI/CD, deployment automation, data contracts and quality monitoring. - Understanding of privacy-by-design and data governance; regulated-sector experience is preferred. - Ability to turn unclear business needs into reusable data products and governed metrics. - Fluent English and confidence working asynchronously across a distributed team.
Nice to have - Kafka or similar event-driven ingestion, schema registries, Terraform, container deployment or data observability experience. - Databricks or AWS certifications.
Benefits and work setup Remote-first, with in-person team meetings at least quarterly and the option to work from another EU country for up to three months each year. The package includes salary, performance bonus, benefits and a €5,000 annual learning budget.
