A hands-on engineering role focused on supporting, maintaining, and enhancing enterprise mainframe applications within a managed-services environment. The position acts as a technical lead, guiding junior team members while ensuring stability and continuous improvement of business-critical systems.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2, and VSAM - Work within enterprise ticketing platforms to manage incidents, service requests, and change requests across both waterfall and agile projects - Lead complex troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and integration issue resolution - Tune application performance and optimize database queries - Produce and maintain technical documentation, knowledge-base articles, and standard operating procedures - Translate functional and technical requirements into implementation options aligned with business needs
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field - 3-5 years of specialized mainframe development, support, and maintenance experience - Proficiency in COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM, with a strong grasp of SDLC methodologies - Solid problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, plus familiarity with version control systems - US citizenship or permanent residency required
