About this role
Role overview
As a Design Engineer Intern, you will connect visual design with production implementation. The work focuses on turning design concepts into polished, accessible interfaces while improving the shared component system that supports consistent product experiences. You will pay close attention to interaction details such as motion, spacing, typography, and responsive behavior, while also checking that finished screens remain visually and technically sound.
Responsibilities
- Translate design files and interaction concepts into responsive, accessible production components. - Extend, document, and maintain a shared design system. - Build quick prototypes to explore interactions and test motion ideas before committing to a final implementation. - Review released interfaces for visual inconsistencies, accessibility issues, and regressions. - Refine details such as layout, spacing, typography, color, and interaction behavior in collaboration with the broader product team.
Requirements
- Studying design, HCI, or computer science, or developing comparable skills through self-teaching, a bootcamp, or portfolio-led work. - Comfort with HTML and CSS, plus some practical JavaScript experience. - A portfolio, course project, or personal work demonstrating visual and interaction craft. - A strong eye for typography, spacing, color, and overall interface composition. - Interest in both the appearance of an interface and the implementation choices that make it usable and maintainable.
The role is a good fit for someone who notices small inconsistencies, enjoys iterating between visual ideas and working code, and cares about accessibility as part of high-quality design.
