Role overview
This senior backend engineering position sits on a Cash & Liquidity Management team at a global B2B fintech building API-based investing and trading infrastructure. The engineer will design and enhance money-movement platforms that power partner integrations at meaningful scale, blending hands-on platform engineering with financial-domain problem solving. The work spans new system architecture, third-party banking-as-a-service integrations, and automating operational workflows that support modern investing experiences.
Responsibilities
- Build and ship backend features for API-driven money-movement platforms - Collaborate with technology and business stakeholders to scope and deliver solutions - Architect and design new systems alongside the Cash & Liquidity team - Maintain, refactor, and enhance existing services while improving reliability - Integrate vendor banking-as-a-service APIs into the broader platform - Model real-world money-movement workflows and automate manual operational tasks
Requirements
- 7+ years of backend software development using object-oriented or functional principles in Java (Kotlin or Scala also acceptable) - Hands-on experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs - Familiarity with several of: Spring Boot, OpenAPI, message queuing frameworks (AMQ, Kinesis, SQS, Kafka), distributed caching such as Redis, DynamoDB or similar NoSQL stores, and Postgres or similar relational databases - Active development experience in a cloud-based microservices environment on AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure - Experience with compute and container platforms such as AWS EC2 and Kubernetes - Proficiency with Git, GitHub, gitflow, and GitHub Actions, plus disciplined code reviews and automated testing - Solid grasp of distributed-systems architecture tradeoffs and clear verbal and written communication
