Director, Engineering

Role overview

Lead a multi-team engineering organization responsible for building and sustaining commercial OT cybersecurity software. Reporting to the VP of Engineering, the role leads at least four engineering managers and is accountable for an organization of roughly 35 to 50 people organized around discipline-based engineering communities such as frontend, backend, data, and AI.

Responsibilities

- Lead, coach, and develop engineering managers accountable for discipline-based communities, owning their performance, growth, and effectiveness as people leaders - Provide substantive technical guidance on software design, architecture, code quality, testing strategy, and review discipline, staying close enough to add value in design or code review - Set the standard for AI-assisted engineering by evaluating and rolling out AI development tooling and defining responsible use practices - Drive department-wide initiatives on engineering standards, delivery practices, tooling, onboarding, and technical debt reduction alongside director-level peers - Partner with product leadership to staff and support cross-functional product teams, balancing engineering capacity against roadmap commitments - Own long-term health of owned services and codebases, including operational readiness and support for deployed product

Requirements

- Eight or more years leading software engineering teams, including three or more managing managers - Experience leading an engineering organization of 20 or more people across multiple teams - Strong technical background as a practicing software engineer with working fluency across frontend, data, networking, and backend architectures - Demonstrated fluency with AI development tooling, including coding assistants, agentic workflows, and AI-assisted review and test generation - Cybersecurity experience at a product company shipping commercial software to external customers - Excellent written and verbal communication, with the range to move between executive updates, peer negotiation, and detailed technical review

Nice to have

- Experience with OT or ICS environments, threat detection, or asset visibility products - Experience integrating engineering teams following an acquisition
